The HempX, Triple Threat, Curly Maple Gap Shelter, Day of Peace Weekend 9/18/15 - 9/21/15

Busy weekend! Started out by attending a panel discussion about "Hemp and the Family Farm" in Asheville at Highland Brewing....

...this crop has the potential to be an economical, environmental, medicinal and nutritional powerhouse if we can just educate and eradicate any laws which restrict the growing and use of this plant. Research!

The next day was "Triple Threat" a 3 section race against the clock! It got started off @ USA Raft with a trip down the Nolichucky.... I opted to use a "Bellyak" which is like a flat kayak that you lay down on....lets just say I got a good arm workout before the obstacle course.

Next was the obstacle course which consisted of 16 obstacles. Which included barbed-wire crawl, rock carry, balance logs, rope climbs, 3 different wall climbs, balance  log stump jumps, monkey bars, net rope climbs, etc.

One of the three walls....

Next was the 5k....after the obstacle course we ran a 5k back to USA Raft.

The final obstacle after the 5k was to cross the small pond to the finish line which you could either cross by climbing 2 rafts tied together or just go through the pond,,,I opted to go through the pond.
Here is a great video of the race by OFFROADVIKINGFILMS....Nolichucky Triple Threat 2015

Later that day, Clifton, Mike, Shannon and I hiked to Curly Maple Shelter on the AT and camped for the night....

Then on Monday, Robin and I went to Asheville for the "Day of Peace" rally.... we never found the rally....so we either missed it or they didn't have it. No worries though because we had a really good day visiting Asheville.
On our way home :)
